A 43 year-old Ventura woman has found herself in a world of hot water after a pharmacist realized she’d been seeing multiple doctors as a means of getting her hands on pain pill prescriptions.
According to a report by Ventura County Star, the pharmacist estimated the now-defendant had seen more than six dozen different medical professionals; she had also received, on average, prescriptions for nearly 430 pain pills per month over a 14-month period. The discovery came after the pharmacy worker cross checked the woman’s name against the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System, which tracks the types of controlled substances that are being distributed to patients.
Law enforcement officials later confirmed this same woman is currently on probation out of LA County due to similar charges.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked at the Ventura County Jail on charges related to “fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.” Her bail bonds amount was not immediately known.
