A spokesperson for the Ventura Police Department have arrested a 40-year old woman after she returned to the scene of a crime.
Officers say they responded to a call pertaining to a stolen truck earlier this week. During the time at which they were interviewing witnesses and performing their investigation, officers said the truck drove past them. A brief pursuit ensured. The driver of the vehicle pulled over a short time later and was taken into custody without incident.
The woman driver was reportedly handcuffed, read her Miranda Rights and transported to the Ventura County Jail to be booked and processed. Defendant Wendy Hinson is being charged with one felony count of vehicle theft and a misdemeanor count of evading a police officer. She is currently being held on $20,000 bail.
The cost to hire a bail bondsman in Ventura County is 10% of the defendant’s bail amount. In this case that cost would be $20,000. The fee paid to a bondsman is nonrefundable and is charged for the service they provide. Defendants who are not bailed out will be arraigned within three business days. Defendants who are able to post bond will typically have their arraignment delayed by 30 days.
Hinson was arrested on Jan. 9 and remains in custody. She is currently scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 11.
