A spokesperson for the Ventura Police Department indicated that officers arrested a Ventura man on suspicion of drug possession.
The arrest happened in mid-April, according to a report by KEYT.com, when patrol officers happened to come across a man who had an outstanding felony warrant. The man was seen driving a car along Ventura Avenue, police said, but when they tried to pull the car over, the suspect fled on foot.
His attempts to get away were futile. Officers caught up with him a short time later and he was arrested without further incident.
That man, Jimmy Cueva, was booked at the Ventura County Jail for possession and sales of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, destruction of evidence and for a parole violation.
Authorities say the drug charges are due to the quantity of narcotics that was found inside the vehicle.
