A spokesperson or the Ventura Police Department has confirmed that dispatch officials received a call earlier this week about a possible shooting that may have taken place in east Ventura.
When officers arrived on the scene, however, they could not find any evidence that this type of crime had taken place. The tipster called 911 right around 9:30pm, according to officials, and relayed that they’d overheard people fighting at nearby park.
The verbal exchange got pretty heated they said, and at one point, heard someone yell they were going to shoot someone. The Ventura County Star reports the caller then heard something that sounded like a gunshot.
Investigators said that once they got to the location of the alleged shooting they started to get conflicting stories. They went onto say they were unable to find any evidence that a shooting had taken place.
The investigation lasted for about an hour, they said. No arrests were made.
