A 24-year old Ventura County Jail inmate will be spending some additional time behind bars. In February of last year, Jordan Mustain attacked another man while they were both being detained at the Ventura County Pretrial Facility.
Jail officials say that after the attack took place, Mustain made comments that led them to believe the incident was gang-related.
Prosecutors charged the inmate with felony participation in a criminal street gang and misdemeanor battery.
The Ventura County Star has reported that Mustain pleaded guilty; he’s sentenced to one year behind bars and three years probation for the offense.
Mustain has been in custody since Feb. 2016. It’s not immediately clear why he was arrested prior to the assault. The victim’s name has not been made public. It’s also unclear whether the man will need to serve his full sentence prior to being released.
