It all started when a local man walked into an area drug store and handed a demand note to one of the cashiers.
The suspect wanted money, according to a spokesperson for the Ventura Police Department, and once the employee started to empty her register he started loading the bills into a plastic bag.
His next move involved making a run for it-but the employee wasn’t about to let him off so easy. She called her manager, who then called 911.
There were a number of officers already in the area, according to a department spokesperson, and they arrived on the scene in moments. They interviewed witnesses and went over security footage. A positive identification was made a short time later.
The robber was taken into custody without incident, they said, and police were able to recover all the money that was taken. Ventura County Jail officials say he was booked on robbery charges and he remains in custody pending bail bonds.
