A spokesperson for the Ojai Police Department said they have successfully captured and detained two individuals who are believed to be connected to a recent home invasion robbery. The incident took place just before 11 p.m on March 4. The victim sustained non life threatening injuries at the hand of one of the suspects.
Ojai PD officials said the man was tied up, beaten and lost consciousness shortly after the lawbreakers entered his home. He also sustained facial fractures in addition to cuts and bruises. At the time he woke up from the beating he was able to untie his hands and feet. He began to call for help and was heard by a neighbor. Medical help responded a short time later. The victim was transported to a local hospital and remained in intensive care for the next few days.
An investigator said the man reportedly knew the assailants. Both of those individuals are known to have affiliations with local street gangs. Defendants Shavon Oboh and Hallye Wright were taken into custody several days later. Ojai Police said they obtained search warrants for each of their homes. At the time those warrants were executed a number of items that belonged to the victim were found within those residences. Other items were recovered from local pawn shops.
Oboh and Wright have since been booked into the Ventura County Jail. Oboh has an assigned bail of $750,000 while Wright’s bail has been set at $250,000. Both women have been charged with kidnapping, assault, robbery, conspiracy and causing serious bodily injury.
Jail records indicate neither defendant has hired an expert bondsman to help bail them out. They are scheduled to be arraigned later this week.
