Sources within the Ventura Police Department have confirmed that an Oxnard man was taken into custody last week after he tried to take an officer’s gun out of its holster.
The suspect was naked at the time the incident took place, they said, and appeared to be under the influence of some sort of controlled substance. Ventura PD dispatch officials said they initially received a call about a disturbance at a home, which is when patrol cars were dispatched to a residence on Via Arroyo Drive.
When officers arrived the in-the-buff suspect tried to hit one of them; the officer took him down. It took some time to finally get the naked man subdued, they said, and the struggle went on for a bit before the suspect stopped fighting back.
The man was eventually handcuffed and booked at the Ventura County Jail on several charges, including trying to take an officer’s gun.
His bail bonds were not immediately known.
