Hollywood often portrays bounty hunters being immediately sent after defendants who fail to appear in court. Our company doesn’t work like that.
When someone is bailed out with the assistance of an expert Ventura bail bondsman they will still need to appear before a judge to have their case resolved. Sometimes people run late, cars break down, children get sick or they just simply forget they have court. These situations are easily remedied. Once a person realizes they have missed their court date they will want to contact our office as quickly as possible. At the time they miss court the judge will revoke their bond and issue a bench warrant for their immediate arrest and the defendant will need our help to fix this.
When they call we will provide them with a piece of paper called a reassumption of liability. They will need to bring this to the court in order to have the warrant lifted, the bond reinstated and their appearance rescheduled.
If someone misses court we will make every attempt to contact them through their family, friends, and if necessary, their place of work. Fugitive recovery agents are only called as a last-effort, and only after all other resources and means have been exhausted. In the United States the percentage of people who willfully skip bail and need to be tracked down is very low. On average, that percentage hovers around 2%.
