Every now and then our office will get a phone call from someone who says their friend or family member has just been arrested and they are on their way to the Ventura County Jail.
“Can you drive down there right now so we can get them out of jail right away?”
Unfortunately the arrest and booking process doesn’t quite work that way. There are certain things that will need to happen before the jail is ready to accept Ventura County bail bonds.
When the defendant arrives at the facility they will be photographed, fingerprinted and their information will be entered into the system. Their bail bonds will be set based on the nature and severity of the crime they have been accused of. The next step in the booking process involves them undergoing a national warrant check. This is done by submitting their fingerprints to the Department of Justice in Washington DC.
As you can imagine, the DOJ receives hundreds, if not thousands of sets of fingerprints every hour from every jail in the US. It generally takes between 4 and 6 hours for the results of the warrant check to be processed. The jail will not allow any Ventura bondsman to post bail bonds (or jail bonds) until this step is complete.
If you need help getting someone out of one of the Ventura County jails we can help. Call our office today at 888-224-5266 to speak with a local bondsman you can trust.
